Get ready for a thrilling year of travel in 2023!
After the unexpected changes and restrictions of the past few years, we're all eager to get back to exploring the world and indulging in some much-needed rest and relaxation.
This year, all-inclusive packages are expected to be in high demand, giving travelers the chance to sit back, relax, and let someone else handle the details. From luxurious cruise ships to stress-free trips arranged by travel agencies or DMCs, these packages offer the ultimate escape from the daily grind.
We're also seeing a rise in solo travel, as more and more people are embracing the opportunity to learn about themselves, boost their confidence, and meet new friends. And with the growing trend of "Sober Travel," travelers are opting for a more authentic and mindful experience, connecting with the local culture and environment without the influence of alcohol.
Wellness holidays are still a popular choice, as people look for a break from their busy lives. From art workshops and dance retreats to plant therapies and emotional detox, there's a growing number of unique and rejuvenating experiences to choose from. And for those seeking a true digital detox, there are even retreats that ban technology, allowing travelers to fully immerse themselves in the present moment.
Travelers are also returning to pre-pandemic habits, booking their trips ahead of time and opting for longer vacations that allow them to live like locals in a foreign country. And with a growing awareness of sustainability, travelers are making more eco-conscious choices and setting higher standards for their holidays. From choosing carbon-neutral destinations to avoiding single-use plastics, this is a trend we hope will only continue to grow.
2023 is shaping up to be a magnificent year for travel, and we can't wait to see what adventures await us! If you're ready to start planning your next trip, don't hesitate to reach out to us at info@hl.is.
We'd love to help you create a journey that exceeds all your expectations!

Tell us a bit about your role at and your journey at HL Adventures.
I was always a salesperson, and before I moved from Scotland to Iceland seven years ago, I had never worked in the travel industry before. My first job in Iceland was at the local tourist information office for an adventure tours company. I very quickly found myself in the luxury travel industry and HL Adventure.
Which part of Iceland have you visited recently that you’d recommend to travellers?
I would have to say my favourite place in Iceland, other than Reykjavík of course, which is Siglufjörður. This utterly charming and tiny little town in the north of the island really captured my heart and I enjoy visiting there. There is a lovely hotel called Sigló Hótel that sits right on the harbour, where you can watch the fishing boats coming in and out. I would live there if it wasn’t so remote, I like being close to civilisation!
What is the most satisfying element of working with the HL Adventure Community as a Project Manager ?
For me, there is no better feeling than when one of our valued clients is bowled over by what we do and tells us. It is so important that client knows that we are looking out for them, and that we will do everything we can to knock their socks off. We do this by creating the most unique experiences and surprises based around who the client is, not just what other people like. Hitting that sweet spot every time with every client is what we strive for, and we have a great track record in doing just that. Happy clients make me very happy.
What is one piece of travel advice you always abide by and why?
Try new things. I know it sounds like a cliché, but I love experiencing new cultures especially food and local delicacies. I love to eat, and I am happy to try everything, There are many foods in Iceland that are perhaps some of the least appetising dishes that you could come across, but I have now developed a taste for them. Also, I think it really matters to learn a few words in the local language everywhere you go. I think too many people don’t do this, which is a pity. I always try to try, and it doesn’t matter how silly you might sound, I think most cultures don’t care, and appreciate the attempt. Icelandic is a challenge, but it is easier than many people think, so have a go at it next time you are here!
