You don‘t have to be an arctic explorer to feel like one.

This signature product by HL Adventure is the brainchild of company owner, and professional explorer, Jón Ólafur Magnússon, “The idea came to me whilst I was Greenland, exploring. We set up a tent very similair to the ones we use in the luxury camp. But, it was a mess - packs and equipment everywhere. I asked the guys if we could maybe make it a bit nicer. So, I started to tidy the place up a little bit, and then it got me thinking. I went home and I set up the tent outside. I said to my wife, Jóhanna, if she could you help me drag our bed outside and into the tent. We did, and we made it look all cosy, and the idea grew from there“

Putting the camp together is no easy task, and a great deal of logistical know-how and effort goes into this one night, “The thing is, you really can‘t study this in a book. It comes from knowing the nature, it comes from using the right crew, the right vehicles, the right skills to make a long-range forecast of the weather. To build a camp for two people, it takes around one month of planning, and 1-2 weeks of work. It‘s a signficant operation only achieved through very careful planning“

We don‘t only create this experience on the glacier, and we can create it almost anywhere, almost any time of the year. Not only in Icelalnd, but also elsewhere in the Arctic region, “We can create the luxury camp all year round, in many locations such as the black, volcanic beaches. However, the glacier camp is most popular from Christmas to February, but we can create it usually from October to May“
