You will meet a local farmer who has lived in the remote village of Mývatn in North Iceland all of his life. Mývatn village sits on an active geothermal area and has a large lake and many small islands. Many of the islands here are pseudocraters formed by rapid cooling after a volcanic eruption.
Step off the beaten track and take a tour of the farmers smokehouse and learn about the old Viking technique of cold smoking food.
A taste of the local delicacies will be offered including geothermal bread, smoked arctic char and lamb baked with the geothermal heat from Geysers.
