Today, you will take a short walk from your hotel in downtown Bergen to the harbor, where a private boat awaits to transport you across the serene waters. The boat will sail between reefs and islets, bringing you to a charming villa located on a nearby islet in the archipelago—accessible only by boat. The transfer from Bergen harbor takes approximately 25 minutes.
Upon arrival, you’ll be warmly greeted at the pier outside the boathouse. Your host may share fascinating stories and the history of the estate during a guided tour of the property and Villa Vestre.
Weather permitting, you might have the chance to forage along the shore, gathering ingredients such as periwinkles, shells, crabs, and seaweed. The main ingredients, renowned for their exceptional quality and sourced from the villa owners' family company, are featured in some of Europe’s top seafood restaurants. You’ll learn to open shells and explore cooking methods and recipes. Meals are typically prepared on a bonfire by the shore, but in less favorable weather, the cozy boathouse provides a comfortable alternative for both indoor and outdoor dining.
The menu changes with the seasons and ingredients' availability, and often begins with a tasting selection of sea urchin canapé, scallop sashimi, grilled or raw oysters, and mahogany shell ceviche. The main course might include grilled scallops and the villa's signature shellfish soup, paired with homemade bread and aioli. Alcohol-free local juice is included to complete the meal, and we can also arrange for alcoholic beverages to pair with your gourmet experience. **We have an alternative menu if some of the guests don't eat seafood. Please advise within 2-weeks of the tour's date.
After your gourmet experience, you will be sail back to downtown Bergen. Upon returning to the harbor, you’ll say goodbye to your captain/guide and make your way back to your hotel at your leisure.
